Traditional Chinese Medicine is the oldest continuous medical system in the world. It has encountered thousands of years of trial and error leading to the healing system we have today. Does acupuncture really work?
There are thousands of years of clinical evidence showing the palliative effects of acupuncture as well as thousands of contemporary case studies showing positive results. In 1997, The U.S. National Institutes of Health formally recognized acupuncture as a mainstream medicine healing option with a statement documenting the procedure's safety and efficiency for treating a range of health conditions. According to the World Health Organization, acupuncture is effective for treating 28 conditions, while evidence indicated it may have an effective therapeutic value for many more.
What conditions does acupuncture treat?
Acupuncture can help to treat: muscle and joint pain, gastrointestinal disorders, stress, headaches, anxiety, sinus issues, genital/urinary disorders, and much more. Schedule an appointment and we can see if acupuncture is right for you.
How does acupuncture work?
Western Science has yet to give us a definitive mechanism for “how acupuncture works” even though our patients are experiencing positive results. The most common theory is that the process of acupuncture stimulates specific neurovascular bundles causing a cascade of endorphins and encephalons thus engendering local tissue changes as well as central changes involving beneficial eradication of pathological somatatopy.

"I was terrified of trying acupuncture; I thought the needles would hurt... and it gave me anxiety to try it. I have had lower back pain for years, and it started interfering with everyday life. Salvatore explained the whole process to me, and made sure I was comfortable before beginning. Overall, it was a great experience and eased some of my pain. I was able to shovel snow today! I have booked another session with him already."

“I was semi-skeptical about acupuncture at first because I wasn’t familiar with the holistic side of medicine. However, my back injury to my SI joint left me searching for any remedy to help aid/speed up my healing process. I reached out to Salvatore because I remembered he did go to school for this. The treatment went well, with little to no pain during the session. The day after, I felt significant relief in my back! It was definitely worth the visit and I thank him for his help.”
